Hello, World.
World hasn’t responded. The void is unnervingly silent. World is probably busy. Or reading a better blog. Or World is a social construct and I’m shouting into a data center in Virginia, which would explain the echo.
Every blog needs a first post. The way every program needs a main(). Something has to run first. This is that something.
I should probably introduce myself. Who I am. What I do. What this blog will “explore.” But that presupposes I know the answers, and I have been advised by counsel not to commit perjury this early in the proceedings.
What I actually know:
- This is a website
- You’re reading it
- At least one of us made a mistake
The first post promises things. “Welcome to my blog about woodworking.” Three posts later the blog dies. It fossilises. Archaeologists dig it up in 2087 and find a broken feed and a 0-byte cache. They wonder what happened. (It’s always the same: life, entropy, better things to do.)
So I won’t promise anything. This post exists to prove the machinery works: words go in, HTML comes out. Beyond that, no guarantees.
The floor is lava.
